Welcome to St. Francis Xavier Music Department Website!

St. Francis Xavier S. S. is a great environment where great things happen daily. Located in Mississauga just west of Ontario's capital, Toronto, St. FX is not just a school; it's a community where students strive for and deliver excellence in all they do. Nowhere is this drive for excellence more evident than in the St. Francis Xavier Music Department.

The music program at St. FX is well established and has played an integral part in the school community since the school was founded in 1991. Currently under the direction of Mr. J. Dubiel and Mr. D. Vespa, the music program is open to students of all musical backgrounds from beginner to experienced. With classes offered in instrumental (band), vocal and guitar classes, music is a popular choice among students.

Our bands are a vital part of the program (See the Extracurricular section for details). The Junior, Senior, and Jazz Bands partake regularly in local and international festivals and competitions. In recent years we have traveled to Cleveland, Orlando, New York, Boston and most recently to New Orleans. Closer to home, the Jazz Band performs regularly at spirit building and sporting events in and around the school energizing the crowd and rallying our teams to victory.

And then of course, there are our concerts. The department organizes annual Christmas and Spring concerts. Spring Concerts are held in a first class facility, in the Royal Bank Theatre in the Mississauga Living Arts Centre for the Performing Arts.

We have also released 3 successful CDs: "FX-2000" (2000) and "Stick To The Stick" (2003) and the newest, "Xavier Visions" (2005).
